How to transfer your Google Friend Connect to WordPress

Few weeks ago I was switching from blogger to wordpress, I felt there is no significant changes since 2 years I’ve been using Blogger.

After I managed to import all my posts to wordpress, I was having a problem to transfer all my friends who was joining me through Google Friend Connect, I couldn’t find any suitable guide helping me with that matter, until just few hours ago I managed to solve it by my self.

Actually the trick is very simple, take my situation for an example. I had a blog called keghahpalo.co.cc with blogger and my new blog domain name called thenone.nexusbox.biz.

To be able using your old google friend connect widget on newly installed wordpress blog all you have to do is follow these simple steps below:

  1. Login to your Blogger account, go to Settings > Publishing > Advanced Setting > Your Domain. Change your current domain name to the new domain name that you are using for your WordPress blog. For example my previous domain name with blogger is “keghahpalo.co.cc” then I changed it to “thenone.nexusbox.biz”, and then save your setting.
  2. Login to your Google Friend Connect at “http://www.google.com/friendconnect” without quote, click on your blog name with blogger and then click “Gadgets” > on Featured Gadgets tab look at Members gadget and click Get this Gadget. Set all of you gadget setting and click the “Generate Code” button, copy this code and paste it to your WordPress press “Text” widget, and then all done.

If you are using WordPress plugin such as GFC plugin for WordPress, you don’t have copy the code, after generating the code all you need to do is find out your site id :

google.friendconnect.container.renderMembersGadget(
{ id: ‘div-228402638716412346′,
site: ‘16968002536886617683‘ },

copy the site id on your WordPress GFC plugin setting and save it, then add the GFC widget to your sidebar and finish.

How To Write Your E-Book

I’ve found a good site about how to start creating your E-Book from www.ebookapprentice.com, check this out, I hope this could give us some ideas and guide to start writing.

Writing

If you’re going to create an E-Book, then sooner or later it’s likely (not necessarily required) that you are going to have to do some writing.

Now, the best approach to writing is going to depend on you.

Personally I find the best way is to research everything before hand, plan out roughly (an outline) what I’m going to write, and then just sit down and start writing – and keep writing until I’m either exhausted or I’ve finished.

If you follow my approach, then I can pretty much guarantee that you can finish, just keep going.

  • When writing your first draft, just write as much as you can as quickly as you can.
  • Don’t worry about grammar, phrasing, repetition, etc. Just keep going. If you don’t know what to write – don’t stop – just type “I don’t know what to write” until you do – it won’t be long before your mind forces you to start writing something else.
  • Don’t worry at all about layout or getting stuff into the right program – just write in your word processor or whichever program you can use most easily.
  • When you’re done with your first draft – there’s a massive sense of achievement. Actually, you’re probably only half way through the project, as you will need to spend a lot of type editing, rephrasing etc., but the sense of achievement gives you a big morale boost that will motivate you to keep going.
  • Once you have all the text of the first draft, the rest is fairly straightforward, just gradually organize and edit the text (if you’re making an HTML E-Book you can copy it from your Word Processor to your HTML documents bit by bit as you edit).

You can do it – the trick is to be motivated and stay motivated – and for me at least, a fast pace helps.

At some point in the process (in the second half if you do it the same way as me), you will need to make sure the text is clear and readable:

  • Use your Word Processor’s spell checker.
  • Check your grammar.
  • Use dictionaries.
  • Try to use short sentences.
  • The more complex an idea, the simpler terms you should use to explain it.
  • Don’t forget you can use pictures, etc.
  • After you finished editing, leave it for a couple of days, then proof read the E-Book all the way through. You’ll be surprised at the number of mistakes you’ll spot.
  • Ask a friend, family member, or business associate to proof-read your work as well.

What Blog Can Make Money?

How to Make Money with Your Blog: The Ultimate Reference Guide for Building, Optimizing, and Monetizing Your Blog (How to Make . . .)Truly the whole picture of making money blogging is simple:you blog (B), traffic comes to your blog (T), you PREsell to them (P) and finally monetize (M).

You may ask me “I have blog and peoples are coming. I need to know how to monetize, though not sure about what the PREsell means. So, tell me how to monetize, NOW.” Understandable request. But before you rush into monetization, there is something you must take care of, otherwise you’ll rush in vain.

I read some articles talking about “how to monetize or in what way can you make money from your blog.” They were OK and nothing was wrong. But most of them were missing one thing, very important one. If you have a lot of traffic, say 10,000 visitors a day, you may need to focus only for how to monetize. And the way of monetization is simple, something like placing banner, affiliate text link, Google Adsense, (listed a few) on your blog page. What you have to realize is that “B–T–P–M” is really STEP-by-STEP. Monetizing will work only when you make a good success in previous three STEPS (B–T–P)

What blog can make money?
The answer is Any Kind! So, the right question should be “what blog can make more money?”

The answer is Well Prepared Blog! :-) What to prepare? Why not just posting? If you want to just blog and you don’t care things to prepare, maybe you’re not serious about making money from your blog. Otherwise, please read on.

First, I want to say this, “DON’T BLOG unless you know what you’re going to blog!”
By this, I don’t mean only conclusion of you blog. Before you blog, sit back from your keyboard and take a time to answer following 3 questions:

1. About what topic am I going to write? Are many people want to know about that topic?
2. With that topic, what product or link am I gonna introduce?
3. And how am I gonna do that?

What do I have in mind about those questions?
1. About topic, I’ll do a little bit of research before I write. Have you heard about “keyword research”? There are free tools fit for keyword research. Not only for blog but for any kind of writings, if Internet is involved, I do keyword research first. For example, for this article, I took a little bit of time to find what kind of keyword people are using when they want to look for information about how to make money from blog.

And I found people are using “make money blogging.” This keyword research has two fold benefit. One is that it helps you fine what kind of topic people want to read. The other is that by using these keyword you’ll have better chance to be positioned high in search engine result page.

2. About question 2, I’m thinking about what monetization method I’m going to use. Am I going to introduce an affiliate program, a book or place Adsense?

3. The purpose of asking question 3 was to emphasize the word “PREsell”. In blogging, though you want to sell something or want your visitor to click links, don’t rush it.
What do you do if you see a blogger is doing nothing but a sales pitch. You leave him once and for all, don’t you? So PREsell is the key of how to write. It is something like creating a worm mind to your suggestion.

If you want to make money from your blog, start writing it only after you know what keyword is related your topic and what kind of monetization you can apply. This can make a huge difference.

If you want to know about how to do a keyword research, you may want to read this blog, Traffic to Blog: Keyword Research.

To sum up, a blog that can make more money is:
1. a blog talking about the topic people want to read and this can be found by keyword research
2. a blog that uses the the keyword in the post so that search engine can easily pick up
3. a blog that PREsells product by creating warm mood.

10 Benefits Of Being A Blogger

Google Blogger For Dummies (For Dummies (Computer/Tech))I have been a blogger since September 2004 but only began to take it seriously this year. My blogging journey began when I stumbled upon a company owned by Google named Blogger.com that offered free tools to build a website.

In fact Blogger provides you with free several templates which you can customize in addition to a domain name hosted on their server. You can host your blog on your domain if you like to. Here are some benefits I found while blogging:

1) Easy to manage. A blog can be set up by even a novice in no time. All you have to do is post and publish. Blogging can get as simple as that or even more complex.

2) Easy to update. Blogs can be updated weekly or daily instead of sometimes monthly for a static website. Even adding a few paragraphs a day can be done in no time and can be beneficial to your search rankings.

3) Get spidered quickly. Search engine spiders crawl blogs with greater frequency than static webpages. I have had webpages that took over eight months to be indexed in Google where as Yahoo sometimes index my blogs in weeks sometimes days.

4) If you write articles then you can post all of them on your blog in addition to free reprint content that is widely available everwhere. The more content you have the better.

5) You can get your website indexed quicker. An article or a piece of news about your website with an optimize anchor link will send the spiders your way in no time.

6) Sell advertising space. If you have a popular blog then you can create a revenue stream by selling ad space. Blogads is one of several places where you can sell your ad space to major companies.

7) Similar to offering ad space, you can add Adsense to your blog to monetize your content. What I love about Blogger is that once you plug in the Adsense code into your main template, a new page is created and Adsense is automatically displayed when you make a post.

8) Review your affiliate products. If you have a blog that is in a niche then you can find affiliate programs for that niche and do reviews of them for a commission. Every time someone purchases the product or service through your link you make money.

9) It is still early to catch on. Blogs and RSS feeds are used by the minority of internet users which makes it excellent for you to start blogging right now. Less than 10% of the Americans which is the biggest online market use this emerging trend.

10) Can be syndicated. An easy way for your readers to stay in touch with updates is to add your blog to their My Yahoo and My MSN. They can see the latest information and how long ago it was added.

11) Yes a bonus! Savvy marketers know that if you add your blogs to My Yahoo you can have it indexed in no time by Yahoo. You can use these two websites to inform blog directories thatyou have updated your content.

a) http://WWW.Ping-o-matic.com

b) http://WWW.Rssfeedpromoter.com

So with all those benefits in mind there is no reason you should not start your own blog. So when do you decide to go blogging?

Search Engine Optimization Mini Course – Part 2

To busy to update my seo mini course with traffictravis, now I’m posting part 2 of the mini course. If you would like to try traffictravis you can get it for free here.

Welcome to part 2 of the 5-part Traffic Travis Search Engine Optimization Mini-Course. Just a reminder, in this course we are covering:

Today we’re looking at Part 2…

Part 2: The 4 Critically Essential Off-The-Page Search Engine Optimization Factors

In our last lesson we talked about the things you can do on your website to help it rank well in the search engines — in other words, the “on the page” factors. In this lesson we’re going to talk about the external factors that can influence your rankings — the “off the page” factors.

Your Google PageRank

Before we get into the “hows”, it’s important that you understand a little bit about Google’s PageRank. PageRank is Google’s way of indexing all content and websites based on importance in the internet community. It’s an important factor in Google’s ranking algorithm, and by understanding a little of how it works, you’ll have a better idea about how to boost your rankings in the world’s most popular search engine.

To establish the “importance” of your page, Google looks at how many other websites are linking to your page. These links are like “votes”, and the more “votes” you have, the greater your online “importance” and the higher your PageRank.

And higher PageRank is an important contributor to higher search engine rankings.

It’s not as democratic as it sounds, however: Not every page that links to you is given equal “voting power”. Pages that have a high PageRank have more voting power than pages with low PageRank. This means that the “boost” a link gives to your own PageRank is closely related to the PageRank of the site that’s linking to you.

For instance… receiving just ONE link from a PR5 page might well give you more benefit than receiving 20 links from PR0 pages. It’s quality not quantity that’s important.

The equation for working out how much PR value you’ll get from a link looks something like this:

  • PR = 0.15 + 0.85 x (your share of the link PR)
  • By “your share of the link PR” I mean that every site only has a certain amount of PR “juice” to give out. Let’s say a page has 100 votes. Lets say it has 20 outgoing links on that page. Then each link is sending 5 votes to the other site. (100 / 20 = 5) That is a simple way of looking at the share of the PR of the link. In reality the higher-placed links get higher voting power, (e.g. 10 votes each) while the lower-placed ones will get less, (e.g. 2 votes each).

There are many other factors at play that determine the PageRank of a page:

  1. The amount of PageRank flowing in to your page. PageRank can come from other sites linking to your page, but also from other pages on your website linking to your page.
  2. Your internal linking: As I just mentioned, PageRank can also come from other pages on your website, trickling from one page to another through your internal linking, menus and such. The trick is to “sculpt” the flow of your PageRank so that it “pools” in your most important pages. (In other words, don’t waste your PageRank by linking to your “contact us” page and site-map all over the show… add rel=”nofollow” to those links to stop the PageRank leaking through to them.)
  3. The number of pages in your website: the more pages your website has, the higher your PageRank will be.
  4. The number of external sites you link to. Again, think of PageRank as being something that “flows”. By linking to lots of other websites you’re letting your PageRank flow out of your page, rather than allowing it to pool. Try to have reciprocal links wherever possible, so that the PageRank flows back to you.

The best piece of advice is to keep these points in mind when building your site and try to avoid any on-page factors which might be detrimental to the “flow” of your PageRank through your site. Once you’ve done that, work on getting quality links from quality websites. The easiest way to do this is to fill your website with useful, relevant information that makes people want to link to you!

And remember: PageRank is just part of Google’s ranking algorithm. You’ll often see pages with high PageRank being outranked by pages with lower PageRank, which shows that there’s much more at play here!

#1: Build lots of 1-way incoming links

Do this through article submissions, directory submissions, submitting articles to blog networks (such as the PLRPro blog network), buying links (e.g. from digital point forums), and so on.
But be careful…

Purchased links can sometimes be more powerful than links you get by more natural methods… but Google will penalize you if they know that you are buying links. One way they’ll nab you is if you buy a link on a monthly lease and then end up canceling it. One link might not be enough to send up the red flags, but some people buy and cancel hundreds of links in this manner.
A better idea is to buy lifetime links from places like forums.digitalpoint.com, and to try to find links from websites that are on topics relevant to your own.

#2: Get some links from good sites

By “good sites” I mean websites that have a high PageRank, or sites with a high “trust” factor (such as Yahoo, Dmoz or sites with a .edu suffix. If you can get good links to the pages on your site that generate the most income for you, even better — if you can improve the ranking of these pages you’ll get more traffic, more conversions, and more money!

#3: Make sure that pages you gain links from are, in fact, indexed.

A link to your site won’t count for anything if the page that is linking to you hasn’t actually been indexed by the search engines. The search engines won’t see the link, and they won’t give you any credit for it. I see a lot of people submitting their sites to article directories and search directories, and then ending up on a page that the search engines don’t visit. This is pointless!

The good news is that it’s pretty simple to get all these pages indexed. All you have to do is let the search engines know about the page yourself. To do this you need to set up a webpage outside of your main site, such as a free blog or a Twitter.com profile. Make sure that the search engines are indexing this page, of course, and then every time you get a new link to your main site, write about it in your blog or Twitter profile! The search engines will see this and visit the other site — hey presto! The page is now indexed, and you’ll get credit for your link.

Important: Don’t link to this blog or Twitter profile from your main money website. Doing this will create a reciprocal link loop…

#4: Don’t loop your links

Reciprocal links aren’t as powerful as one-way links. This is why you want to receive one-way links from other websites whereever possible.

But there are also things called “reciprocal link loops” which are like bigger versions of this. I mentioned one in the last tip… A links to B, B links to C and C links to A. That’s a loop… it eventually comes full circle back to the first site. A “link loop” can get pretty large, but if it eventually ends up back at the start, it’s still a loop, and all links within the loop become less powerful. Small loops are the worst, but try to avoid loops wherever possible.

That brings us to the end of our critical off-page factors for search engine optimization. In part three of this five-part mini-course I’ll talk link building strategies: Keep an eye out for it!

Kind regards,
Traffic Travis

While the free edition is packed full of valuable features, there is even more in the Professional edition and for a short time we are allowing you access to it for a $5 trial, to find out more see: www.TrafficTravis.com/professional

8 Ways To Get People To Visit Your Web Site Again And Again

I just received an article in my inbox about “8 ways to get people visit your web site again and again”, beside that i included my comment’s with this article because some of the part of this tips I can aggree but not some of that. Enjoy it down here.

1. Polls
Hold an interactive poll on your web site. Ask visitors a poll question. Have them e-mail their vote or opinion. People love to give their 2 cents worth. They would also like to read the results the next day or week on your web site.
my comment : I do agree, sometimes poll can help you to determine what is the hot topic that peoples love to read about.

2. Prize Drawings
Hold an ongoing prize drawing on your web site. The prizes should be something of interest or value to your subscribers. Most people who enter will continually revisit your web site to get the results.

my comment : I think this part it more suitable with a company website but not for first timer blogger, 4D, TOTO, Lotery also can what?

3. Original Content
Give your visitors content they can’t read anywhere else. I’m not saying all your content has to be 100% original, but a portion of your web site should have original information. People will usually read information they haven’t read before.

my comment : this is sometime a difficult part for bloggers who want to blog but dont have any ideas and talent.

4. Quizes
Give your visitors a quiz or a series of trivia questions. Post the correct answers weekly on your web site. The people who participate will want to come back to your site to see
if they were right.

my comment : is this tip can really help me to get people visit my site again and again or this tips was suggesting me and you to start a quiz web site, “read tips no 2 and no 6 and you’ll know what i means”

5. News

Supply news stories related to your web site topic. People want current and up-to-date news. If you can be their first source, they will become repeat visitors to your web site.

my comment : and this part also same as original content, you needs to be creatively to write a news and I would like to suggest using Google Alert to get breaking news.

6. Jokes
Give your visitors a little humor now and then. Don’t be so serious; tell them a joke. If they associate your web site with being happy they will visit again and again.

my comment : you must become a clown, hehe.. just joke.

7. Free Stuff
People love to get free stuff. List free stuff on your web site. It could be software, services, sample products, e-books etc. The freebies should be related to your web site topic. Keep the freebies coming and your visitors will return regulary.

my comment : get copyleft, get a free account such as from www.drivehq.com to upload your free software that you want share, or you can use google docs(docs.google.com) to upload your free ebook.

8. Directories
Tell your subscribers about Web sites related to your web site topic. The web sites should be interesting and helpful. Become your readers web site directory and they will come
back.

my comment : it depends, not all people will do that, some of them want to get high traffic but they was too lazy like me.. hhahaha.. just kidding..

p/s : there are so many tips on how to get high traffic to your site, but I will publish it later..

10 Reasons You Should Not Switch To Linux

This article is not mine, but I copying it here because I think who ever found my blog should read this one, because it will make you realize how suck we are when we stick on just one platform for the entire life of dedicating our times to the buggies operating system ever made.
———————————————————————–
Every week I read a new blog post giving 10 – 25 or even 100 reasons you should switch to Linux right now. I say bah humbug to them. If you need someone to give you 100 reasons to switch your current OS of choice, you are better of sticking with it. As someone who is literally forced to use windows for work-related task, use a Mac just because I have money to blow and runs an obscure Linux distro to prove my point about my anti conformist views; I know a thing or two about why you shouldn’t switch to Linux.

1) You shouldn’t switch to Linux because… you actually enjoy paying for an operating system that is so mired with bugs and issues that it shouldn’t be even released as an alpha build. What recession?

2) You shouldn’t switch to Linux because… change is always scary. Look at Obama, he scares the shit out of me. I voted for him but he always talks about change and change is always scary even if that change will make things better.

3) You shouldn’t switch to Linux because… the only thing you use your computer is to play games. I mean people still use computer for anything other than games?

4) You shouldn’t switch to Linux because… You love to dedicate one whole day of your week just for scanning purposes. Anti-virus scan – Spyware Scan – Defragmentation scan – Registry Scan & defrag. What Fun!

5) You shouldn’t switch to Linux because… You love to pay for Anti-virus/spywares (with yearly subscription renewal) for protection that the OS should provide you in the first place. Even though Windows Defender does a fabulous job, its just not there yet.

6) You shouldn’t switch to Linux because… most people use Windows. If most people use windows it must be good!

7) You shouldn’t switch to Linux because… you realize that nothing lasts forever. Eventually your windows will succumb to a BSOD, while Linux has its version of kernel panic, you might have to wait couple of years to experience it, if at all.

8) You shouldn’t switch to Linux because… you LOVE Internet Explorer and you can only use the latest version of Internet explorer on windows. Imagine going online without IE?

9) You shouldn’t switch to Linux because… you have to be a geek to use Linux and we all know that geeks don’t have girlfriend.

10) Last but not least. You shouldn’t switch to Linux because… you don’t want to be a conformist and do what everyone tells you to do. You want to be unique, which is why you want to use windows. Oh wait…

Top 7 Reasons Why You Should Have A Website

Having a website has become a true necessity nowadays. Here you will find all the required website resources in one place – 24/7 web hosting services complemented with FREE bonuses such as popular php scripts, marketing tools and a website builder, among others.

Having a website of your own equals entering into an invaluable communication environment. There are at least 7 reasons why it is highly advisable for you to be present online:
1. Represents your personal profile
A website can be your virtual portrait, showing off your personal self to the world on a 24/7 basis.  Among the most popular ways of presenting your personality online is keeping a webblog (otherwise known as online diary) or a photo gallery, where your friends can stay up-to-date with your daily living.
2. Spreads your voice across the world
A website can be your global “tribune” where you are able to share your knowledge, experience and enthusiasm with people who have common interests, but with whom you might not otherwise have crossed paths. A very popular idea-voicing tool is the discussion board, better known as “forum”. You can also have a guestbook on your site, where people can discuss your postings.
3. Lets you be in touch with people at a distance
A website can be a meeting place for making new acquaintances with people of different religion, nationality and age, as well as for keeping in touch with friends who may be on the other side of the world. Thanks to the almost unlimited online communication possibilities you can conduct one-to-one conversations with many different people directly from your website.
4. Broadens disabled people’s interaction with the world
A website empowers people with limited access, due to handicap or illness, to broaden their communication with others. A website can be a physically disabled person’s door to the dynamic world, allowing him/her to bridge over the difficulties
of having a “different” everyday life. It can even be their office, where they can present and deliver certain home-made products/services directly from their living room.
5. Creates a web skill development environment
A website can introduce you to the secrets of www. The contemporary web design technologies have brought the art of creating a website just a few clicks away from the inexperienced user. Thanks to the popular WYSWYG (what you see is what you get) web design tools, absolutely everyone (irrespective of age or education degree) can build their own web page without any previous experience.
6. Makes extra profit for you with minimum investment on your part
A website can make residual profit for you, while you are sleeping or enjoying your free time. Thanks to the up-to-date techniques for bringing traffic to your website, you can earn easy money by simply having visitors click on certain product/service promos or links that are relevant to your site content pages (e.g. Google Adsense/Adwords ad solutions) without any initial investment.
7. Makes you a member of the biggest community of the world
A website is a must-have personal attribute nowadays, just like mobile phones and computers are. The fast developing technologies have converted having a website from a whim into a modern necessity. As of today, almost everyone has a web site, whereas twice as many people are expected to be having their own personal space in the global World Wide Web cosmos in the near future. Be forward-thinking, join this trend now.
