In my country Malaysia, there was a trend when entrepreneur stated to running a cyber cafe business, they normally running an internet gaming center or lan gaming center, but before we deeply discuss on Open Source Cyber Cafe defination, firstly we need to know what is the the true meaning of internet cafe, cyber cafe, internet gaming center, and internet centre.

A short brief about cyber cafe or internet cafe.
Internet Cafe or Cyber Cafe is a terms for a place where people pay to get connected to the internet and using computer to get their jobs done using the most common end user software like word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, send or read emails, printing, scanning, or chatting and gaming, and they can order their meal and eat there, it is a place where people hang out with their offline and online friends.

What is Gaming Center?
A gaming center actually is more like modern day cyber  cafe where people stay more then hour facing the screen to play games with their friends rather then surfing the website and reading email’s. They offering a place for people to play online gaming and Lan gaming and mostly the their devoted customer’s was a bunch of kid’s. Others gaming center or cyber cafe provides gaming station such as Playstation or XBox.

The Open Source  Cyber Cafe is not the terms for the two above meaning even though it is a cyber cafe but in a different meaning of cyber cafe concept.

The basic points of Open Source Cyber Cafe is,  it has all the important thing of the convensional cyber cafe should be but it was build and running totally on the Open Source Software Technology. Today cyber cafe is the most important thing as a library in country, the needs of information in every aspect of living is must, but most of Malaysian enterpreneur was too depending on Microsoft platform which makes many of us can’t get the true freedom of expending the business of cyber cafe.

People should be advice to learns different computer or desktop platform other then M$ Windows, and one of the best starting place is to setup an Open Source Cyber Cafe with the main objective to educate peoples to using the Open Source Software Technology.

Today there are plenty Open Source Software that are so reliable for running a cyber cafe business, and it should be done to prove that Open Source Software is a market competent to the other’s propriatories software . This is must for a cyber cafe business owner to diversify software procurement or Open Source Software will be the last choice for cyber cafe business.
